World Headquarters nightclub situated in the heart of Newcastle opened the doors to peep for an all access tour and interview with the owner – Tommy Caulker. peep reached out to tom, as we thought the club and it’s artwork needed to be documented. Tommy, talked us through the history of WHQ Newcastle. Tom talks to peep how he started the club with ‘Do It Yourself’ attitude. Tom remembers organising club nights in Graveyards and seaside beaches. He also discloses the pressures of being black within a largely racist culture. The WHQ owner remembers club doorman being racist, along with the Police and found it difficult to relate to what was going on musically.

peep walk-thoug the complete club and the many art murals that adorn it’s walls within the clubs two floors, including Charles Darwin, Curtis Mayfield, Donna Summer, Le Freak, Frank Zappa, Richard Attenburgh and many more.
